My Best Buds
One of the biggest scares we had before Wesley was born was how were the dog and cat going to interact with him. Previously, Keto (the dog) was super jealous and would never let me get around other babies and kids. Then came Cosmo (the cat). Keto went from an only child to 1 of 2 and learned to cope alot better with someone else around. Then came Wesley. Our thoughts: "How is Wesley going to be able to play on the ground with Keto around?"; "Keto is going to step on him when he gets excited."; "I'll never be able to hold Wesley without Keto getting super jealous." Well, thankfully, Keto totally surprised us and has been the best big brother to Wesley. From the day we brought him home from the hospital Keto has been right there protecting him, licking him, and watching over him like a hawk. Keto lets Wesley play with his toys, steal his bone from him while he is chewing on them, climb all over him, pull on his ears, and much, much more. Cosmo has been getting alot better. For the longest, he would sneak over to Wesley while he was sleeping and check him out. Then, he would come into the room with him. Now, Cosmo taunts him and acts like he doesn't want anything to do with him (but you can tell Cosmo wants him to chase him and play with him). Wesley constantly chases him and pats him and tugs on him. Instead of getting up and moving to the next room or up somewhere high where Wesley can't get to him, he moves about 2 feet and lays back down and wags his tail. There are the occassional hisses and Cosmo slaps Wesley with his paw (without extending the claws - thank goodness) to warn him to quit, and Wesley usually backs away and stops. But, big brother Keto usually jumps up so quick and is there in between them before you realize it happened. The big protector! You can tell in the pictures that Keto and Cosmo love (and tolerate rather well) Wesley and Wesley loves being around them. One, Wesley is getting licks and just giggles and giggles. He'll usually work his way into laying on Keto as a pillow and sitting right in between his feet. The other, Wesley uses Keto as a step stool and wallers all over him. Lastly, Wesley is messing with Cosmo and attempting to steal the remote control from him.

You are lucky! When we brought Abigail come Chester dug a hole in the couch and the cat ran away! (Later found and sent to a better (kid free) home.)
