Come on Wesley. . . Let Us In!

OK, the other night we learned our lesson. We thought we had childproofed the guest bathroom, but, we thought wrong. We added a new child gate to our home decor between the kitchen and the dining room, so, when we are feeling brave, Wesley is freed from his captivity in the living room and allowed to roam the hallways. We usually shut all of our doors, exect the one in the guest bathroom because that is where we keep the cat's food and water. We took everything out of the drawers in there except the cat brush and the catfood under the counter. We figure even if he gets ahold of the catfood it won't hurt him, so we left it there. Well, Wesley disappeared and we went to look for him. Hmmm, the bathroom door was shut and there was alot of noise coming from the bathroom. So, like any normal parents we went to open the door to get him out. Crash..........as we smash into the bathroom door we realize that he shut the door and pulled out the drawers. So, the door will now only open about 1-2 inches.......enough for Erick to slide his fingers in to try and push the drawers shut so we can open the door. All the while, we can see the cabinet door is open (where the catfood is) and Wesley is having a grand ol' time in there. If you remember, he loves to take the dogfood and dump it all over the floor so he can sweep it up, so my thought was that he was going to take the entire bag of catfood and dump it. OK, back to the story. Erick is slipping his fingers into the tiny slot and smash..............Wesley sees the door is open and decides to smash into it and try and shut it again. Unfortunately, Erick's fingers are still inside the slot. So, at this point, Erick is rolling on the floor with hurt fingers and I am trying to negotiate with Wesley that if he will shut the drawers we can go play. Thankfully, the previous week, he finally realized that there are things in the drawers in the cabinet in the living room, so I had been getting on to him to "shut the drawers". So, with my pleading he decided to shut the drawer and let us in. Upon opening the door we found that no catfood was scattered.

Ok, now another story. You think we would have learned our lesson but I guess we were so happy about finally getting him out we didn't think about securing the door so it wouldn't shut. About 30 minutes later I hear ma-ma, ma-ma, ma-ma (pleading cry for help). I jump up and realize he had gone back to the bathroom and shut the door again. This time, the light was off and it was pitch dark in the room. He didn't care for that, so a cry for help from mommy was needed. After this incident, we threw a towel over the door so it wouldn't shut until we can find our door guards. What a night!
