What is my name?

This is going to be quick, for it is already past 11 pm and I need some sleep. I'm a little behind on my postings, but, hopefully, that will come to an end soon. I officially have 6 days of classes left until I am done. . . finito. . . caput (I'm sure I spelled all these wrong, but you get the picture). It seems they save almost every assignment until the last 3 weeks of class, so I have been busy. But, as I said, I will be done very soon. YEAH!!!!! I'll have a life again.

On with the reason I'm on here, to tell you about Wesley. . .

The day has come! I didn't think this day would come until he was maybe 14 or 15, when he is embarrassed to be around his mom and doesn't want anyone to know me. What am I talking about? Wesley has been calling me "Jo". More than not, I am now Jo. I try to ignore him when he calls me Jo and remind him that my name is "Mommy", as in MOMMMMMM-MEEEEEEEEE. I have to admit, it is cute and I do snicker where he can't see me. . . but, after 8 months of pregnancy (3 of which were on bed rest), being shocked to find out I had to deliver him a month early, being cut open from hip to hip, having the wonderful side effects of breast feeding, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6am, . . . . shall I go on. . . . . . feedings, being thrown up on, pooped on, peed on, and nameless other things, I think I deserve to be called "Mommy" (at least until he feels he is too old to call me that and I'll require him to call me at least "Mom").

It's a phase...a very long one! I've decided that they hear us refer to each other as "Rach and Mike" or in your case "Jo and Erick" so when they want your attention, they do the same because you ALWAYS stop what you are doing and respond due to the unexpectedness of it. All 3 of mine have done it off and on over the years. As a result, we have taken to referring to each other as Daddy and Momma unless we are alone (and even then, I'm noticing we are using our actual names less and less...the joys of parenthood, losing your identity as the children become the center of the world!)
