One Minute Please
It has started already. I have been using the phrase "in a minute" or "one minute" for the past couple of months because it was something Wesley has learned and is ok with when I say it. For example, if he starts getting upset because I'm leaving the table or the room or leaving him in his bed to go and get something, I will say I'll be back "in a minute". He always seemed ok with it and has seemed to understand that it meant he will be ok and I'll be right back. Well, it has now back fired on me. He has started to say the phrase when I ask him to do something. "Wesley, please pick up your toys" . . . "one minute" he replies (with his pointer finger showing the number one). Yesterday, in the car, he had a cup with lid and straw and juice in it. I asked him not to take the lid off and put the straw back in it. He would say "one minute please" and would start to take the lid off like he wanted to do something first and it would only take a minute to do and then he would put the lid back on. He will even use the phrase when we are all in a room and he wants to leave the room and do something. He will tell us "one minute please" and will go do what he wants to do and come back. I'm at least thankful that he is using the word please with it.
