The Saga Starts

I don't know which is worse, figuring out what kind of birthday cake to make for Wesley or what kind of Halloween costume to make for him. This year it seemed pretty obvious for the birthday cake. . . balls. I thought about making him a ball for Halloween, but I thought that might be too cumbersome and uncomfortable. It could be made of material and stuffed or paper-mached, but how in the world do you ask a little guy to walk and sit in something like that. I was an apple one year. My mom paper-mached one for me and I had the top of the core and stem as a hat, with my arms coming out of the holes in the side (covered in green tights) acting as a worm inside. I loved this costume, but, I do have to admit, it was very uncomfortable. So, the ball idea seems to be one that won't happen until Wesley gets a little older and can handle this. He loves frogs right now, so I thought this might be a cute costume. I have seen a couple, but nothing thrilled me so onward I keep looking. He loves Dora the Explorer, but I thought it might be too overboard dressing him up as a little girl. We also thought of Swiper the Fox (for those of you who don't regularly watch Dora, he is the fox that swipes the things Dora is trying to take somewhere on her journey). Wesley has been going around saying "Swiper, don't swipe" . . . and "Oh, Man" (these are the two main phrases that Swiper says.) Not sure about being Swiper, I really hate those premade costumes of super heros and cartoon characters. I'm more into original costumes. I don't know how original "The Fonz" was last year (see pictures on the right side of this blog), but it sure fit Wesley. We don't really take him trick-or-treating to many places except for the neighbors close to us, so spending a fortune on a costume is kind of crazy. Also, he has a Halloween party at daycare so I want something that will be comfortable for him. Soooooo, I guess you'll will have to wait until after Halloween to see what we decide. What will it be? What will it be?

I always go with whatever I can find on clearance the year before. ;)

    Good luck!
