Our Trip - Day 1
By the great generosity of Nikki, Greg, Tom, and Donna, we were able to go to California for Christmas and spend 3 weeks. We then inherited Tom and Donna's 4-Runner and drove home to Illinois. It was nice, because Erick was able to finally clean some of his stuff out of Tom and Donna's garage and bring it home, plus we were able to bring our canoe home. Overall, it was a great trip and we got to spend alot of time with the family and see alot of beautiful places on the way home.
The trip out went fine. . . thank goodness. We woke up the morning we were supposed to leave and everything was covered in ice and snow. My dad was bringing us to the airport (3 hours away on a normal day), so he had to drive there and then back home in the bad weather. Thankfully, things weren't too bad. . . I compare it to a few years back when we woke up and were supposed to drive to the airport and were welcomed with about 3-4 feet of snow. It took Erick 6 hours just to dig our car out of the driveway so we could attempt to drive it out. So, a little snow and ice was workable. We borrowed my parents car seat instead of using ours because it is a little bigger and Wesley travels in it better. Well, it ended up not being airplane certified, so Wesley had to sit like a big boy on the airplane. That ended up being better than I thought it would, but he figured out how to unbuckle the seat belt so we were constantly having to buckle him up again and again. Anyway, we flew from St. Louis to Vegas. We were over an hour late leaving STL because of snow and ice and met a 180 mph headwind trying to get to Vegas. So, we got there about 2 hours late. Thank goodness we didn't have to switch planes. It ended up that the day before and the day after we stopped in Vegas that there were tons of flights cancelled because of snow there. Lucked out once again. We finally made it to Sacramento (late, of course) after about 13 hours of traveling. Wesley was a great traveler though.

He looks like such a big boy.
2 views from the plane. . . I bet you couldn't have guessed that!
He loved sitting and looking out the window.
We finally made it to Aunt Nikki and Uncle Greg's house.
Wesley still had energy and talked Aunt Nikki into playing legos with him.
