A Visit to the Ocean

Wesley and Aunt Nikki

I can see you too!
(Greg and Erick in the background)

Don't you believe that Wesley wrote that?

I love this picture (even though you can't see any part of his face). The funny part of this was that just seconds after I took it Wesley let go of the kite and it started going towards the water. I knew the kite had been in the family since Erick had been little, so I knew it meant a lot. Out of instinct, I took off running after the kite to try and catch it before it got away. Believe me, I am not the fastest runner at all. . . I am not even close. I felt like when I was running that the "Chariots of Fire" music should have been playing. A couple of times I got close and thought about pouncing on the kite string, but figured I'd like to spend the rest of my trip without a cast on my arm. To make a short story even shorter, I was too slow and couldn't catch up with the kite. Miraculously enough, the kite kept flying. . . and flying. . . and flying. . . and flying. It flew all the way across the bay. It was kind of fun to watch.

I love this picture too.
To me, it just shows the simple joys of childhood.

It's us.

Oops, lets try again without the sunglasses this time.
