What a Cool Shirt
It was so funny today when I brought Wesley to daycare. Do you remember those days when you were in Jr High or High School and had a new pair of shoes or shirt or piece of jewelry and hoped your friends would notice and compliment you on them? Well, bringing Wesley to daycare today reminded me of those days. Not for my sake, but for his. To start from the beginning, I was trying to find Wesley some clothes to wear this morning that would spark an interest in him to want to get dressed. Mornings are the worst, for he isn't the best child when he is tired. So, to compensate for his bad moods and cranky fits of not wanting to change out of the warm pj's he is currently in to the cold clothes that are awaiting him, I try and find clothes that he will like. Such as a shirt with fish on them, or animals, or his favorite pair of shoes. Well, not thinking much of the shirt I chose except for the fact that it had balls all over it and he LOVES balls, I thought that he might "want" to put it on, so I pulled it out of the closet. To cut out the next part of the story, I got him dressed, he ate, drove to daycare. . . blah, blah, blah. By this point, his mood is fine and he is yelling "School-School" as we pull into the parking lot. We walk in and I take him to his classroom. You would have thought he was Brittany Spears walking out into public with the crowd that gathered around him. All the little boys were pointing at his shirt and saying "ball-ball........" It was like there was that moment that he was the "cool" kid in classroom because he was wearing the cool ball shirt. They all looked like they were just having a good 'ol time talking about his shirt (as best as you can carry on a conversation as a 2-year old). He turned around and had the biggest grin on his face as to say "Look at me mommy." It was just too cute and made me think they were all in high school instead of the 2 Year Old Toddler Room.
