Everyone Has His/Her Place
Wesley has been taking an interest in playing Mommy/Daddy to his stuffed turtle and his baby doll. He normally comes and lays down in bed with us when it is time for him to go to bed because we have to give him his breathing treatment and then we put him to bed and this is the easiest way to keep him still. He knows this is the routine, so this lets him know it is bedtime. Since Erick has been working nights, it is mostly Wesley and I getting in bed. . . but, he never forgets to mention his Daddy. Wesley has a little pillow he uses when he is lying down in bed with us, Daddy has his pillows, and I have mine. Nobody is allowed to use Daddy's pillows. . . except for Daddy. The other night, Wesley brought his stuffed turtle to bed. He needed a pillow for the turtle, so I grabbed a throw pillow for him to "pretend" with. He layed the turtle down and covered him up and said "Night night turtle", covered himself up, and said "Mommy cover up". He then went through his routine of naming everyone that was in bed. . . or who wasn't. He pointed to Daddy's pillows and said "Daddy at work", pointed to the turtle and said "Turtle", pointed to himself and said "Wesley", and then pointed to me and said "Mommy". Once roll call was taken, he settled down.
Wesley was playing with his baby doll today when it was about time to take his nap. I was trying to get Wesley to crawl up into his bed on his own, so I told him to put his baby to bed to take his nap and get up in bed with him to put him to sleep. He actually did it. He layed the baby down, got up next to him, and let me cover them both up. The baby has a tiny gock (pacifier) that you can put in his mouth. Wesley said "Baby's gock" so I put the gock in the baby's mouth, then he said "me gock too". We haven't really used one in a few months except for a few times when Wesley has been really stuffed up (it helps clear up his nose), so this was a no-no. I told him that he was a big boy now and big boys don't use gock's. I turned to leave the room and saw that Wesley took the baby's gock and put it in his mouth. How sneaky!!!
