The Moon

We have been trying to get Wesley to distinguish between daytime and nighttime and what it means when we say "we will do that tonight" or "we will do that tomorrow morning". He has been understanding pretty well. We have to tell him "when the moon comes out" we will do something and he understands that to mean when it gets dark. The same thing goes for the morning time, we say "when the sun comes out". He also knows that when he sees the moon, it is time to start getting ready for bed because it is nighttime and that means bedtime. I think he was a little confused the other day when he saw the moon in the sky during the day and it was really sunny out. I couldn't really explain that one to him in terms he would understand. This has helped him understand the concept of time a little better, but I still haven't figured out how I will explain it once the time changes and it starts getting dark at 5 pm instead of 8 pm. Hmmm? I can't really tell him it is bedtime at 5 pm can I? He also really likes looking for the moon in the sky when it gets dark. We will be riding down the road and he will say "I see the moon." and when it disappears he will say "bye-bye moon, it's gone". If we are out and get home and the moon is out he will say "Night-night moon, night-night star" (in reference to the book Goodnight Moon). It is cute. He is learning alot, but sometimes we just have to put it in terms that he will understand for now.
